PSI is committed to helping meet the world's need for energy in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. We believe that is the right thing to do and that this approach is critical to our success in a world in which energy sources should be compatible with a clean, safe, and healthy environment.
That is why we are continually working to improve our processes to reduce pollution and waste, conserve natural resources and reduce potentially negative environmental impacts from our activities and operations.
Whenever we undertake a new project, we work to understand the environmental issues. Then we create a balanced plan that couples new energy development with innovative techniques to protect the locations where we operate. Fundamental to our operating philosophy is a commitment to adhere to the stricter of two standards: our own policies and principles or the regulations established by a particular state.
Our environmental stewardship is aligned around three basic principles:
- Include the environment in all decision making:
From our everyday actions to major capital investments, we make better decisions when we consider the environment.
- Reduce our environmental footprint:
We use our business processes to identify and manage risks to the environment and reduce potential environmental impacts throughout the life of our assets.
- Operate responsibly:
We apply exacting and proven operating procedures to improve reliability and ensure the consistent implementation of safety standards designed to prevent accidental releases, including spills.
As part of our efforts to innovate and develop new technologies, we strive to use environmentally friendly procedures and materials when providing our services. In addition, we have comprehensive emergency response plans in place that address environmental concerns. All incidents that could affect the environment are dealt with immediately to ensure that they are properly contained and the environmental impact is minimized.
Reducing Our Environmental Footprint
PSI strives to use fewer material resources to reduce our environmental footprint.
Potential impacts occur in the manufacture, transport and operation of our oilfield services equipment.
PSI crews receive comprehensive training in well control that meets and often exceeds the requirements and practices required by government or industry.
Reducing Engine Emissions
PSI vehicles represent the latest technology for achieving fuel efficiency and reduced emissions. Our crews are trained to carpool and consolidate trips whenever possible. We match each vehicle to the particular utilization in order to maximize the overall fuel efficiency of our fleet.
PSI production testing equipment is designed to recycle production-testing emissions back into the production line and reduce or eliminate the flaring of hydrocarbons.
We actively work to reduce, reuse, recycle and reclaim materials used in our operations. Recycling in particular is a priority for PSI and is a strict practice in all of our locations.
Work in Environmentally Sensitive Areas
PSI works in environmentally sensitive areas. In such instances, we work closely with our customers to ensure that any potential negative impacts of the planned operation are minimized or, where possible, eliminated entirely.
Water Usage and Handling Waste
Water supply and quality issues are typically the responsibility of the operating oil company. However, PSI manages waste to ensure that any products being transferred to upright and open-top tanks, are carefully monitored during the servicing of a well. Any spills are reported and mitigated quickly and are always contained onsite.
When it comes to the environment, as in all aspects of our business, PSI is committed to doing things the right way. Sustainability lies in the enduring nature of our values and the objectives of our mission. We will always act with integrity, respect and protect the environment, serve our communities, and be mindful of the safety and health of those around us.
